Next to the Chequers is the famous Chipping Norton Theatre, once the Salvation Army Citadel, and drawing theatre goers from all over the country. At the bottom of Church Street is Saint Mary's Parish Church. Since about 1200 there has been a church on this site though the present building dates from the 15th century. Further up Church Street are the Almshouses. They date back to 1640 when Henry Cornish had them built for eight poor widows. |
